community

As a youngster I was hell bent on fixing every problem I discovered... only to be sorely disappointed. Today I am not much different. But since moving to a small community, my focus has narrowed from global to local. I see so much that can be done on a small community level and I can even see some success. It is only since technological advances in communication that we have become so aware (and thus desensitised?) to global events, plights, catastrophes. I think this international awareness has come at the cost of local knowledge and belonging.

Didn't someone smarter than me once say: I am the master of my own kingdom? Well a good leader and a good community ensures that the most marginalised and downtrodden are cared for and acknowledged. I will try to be more aware of my own backyard, frontyard, main street and backstreets......
